Wheeler to Cochran:
Ride with us on one of the most scenic rail lines in the world. You will travel to the summit of the Northern Oregon Coast Range, starting from Tillamook or Wheeler, OR, on our 68 mile excursion (out of Wheeler).

Along the way, we will go over bridges, trestles, through tunnels and over 15 miles of scenic Salmonberry River Canyon - accessible only by rail. (See slide show.) Cochran is the summit of the Tillamook line with an elevation of 1,824 feet. This is the most remote and scenic section of the Tillamook line. The tracks climb the west slope of the mountains with grades that exceed 3%.

Westbound and eastbound freight trains meet at the summit and exchange loads and empties. The 5,400 foot long siding is also used to store extra cars.

Equipment:   Depending on which trip you take, our trains will be using a combination of our Budd RDC car, a round end car and a lounge-type car. A four-door baggage car is also provided as a rail fan and concession car.
